About Toronto Yorkville

Toronto Yorkville HotelsThe district of Yorkville in Toronto, Ontario in Canada was founded in 1830 by Joseph Bloorand and William Botsford Jarvis. The area began as a residential suburb known as the Village of Yorkville until it was annexed by the City of Toronto on February 1, 1883. It was once the site of beautiful Victorian houses, quiet streets, and graceful gardens.

Yorkville is bounded to the north by Davenport Road, to the south by Bloor Street, to the west by Avenue Road, and to the east by Yonge Street. Following the completion of the Bloor-Danforth subway real estate values increased. Today the district is considered one of Canada's most posh and prestigious shopping communities.

Yorkville is known for its upscale shopping, restaurants, hotels and art galleries. Shopping includes names such as Gucci, Prada, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. The scenic Yorkville Park contains a variety of native Canadian flora and has received the American Survey of Landscape Architects Award. The Yorkville district is host to both the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sante International Wine Festival.
